More  information

This building has been used as the county jail since its construction in 1873, and it closed to inmates in 1986.  The interior of this building has gone through many changes to conform to the regulations pertaining to county prisons.    Maybe its most famous inmate was Willam M. Austin who was convicted of murdering his aunt.  Mr. Austin was hung by the neck in the back jail lot.
