Welcome to the Old  Garrard Jail

The jail museum is open 5 days a week, with tours given at any time during the afternoon period (by appointment).  The jail houses a wide variety of historic items.  Most items are from the Garrard County area.  The down stairs is full of jail mementos including the noose and hood of the last man hung in the county.  There are also displays of the USS Garrard battleship, and may other great displays.

The jail was built in 1873 of the Italianate style.  It closed its doors to prisoners in 1986, over 113 years of inmates.  The jail does have seperate cell blocks for men and women.  It has also been said to be haunted by numerous ghost.
